You might pick up on some ideas from postings by others who have scanners that may or may not have the features you need & or do what you want.
Some have the ability to use a portable computer, others use a portable palm scanner, with cables long enough so you can work under the hood, or even drive the vehicle while monitoring the scanner while it looks at the suspected parts output to the computer, under real world driving conditions.
There are many choices, features & prices.
Bet you can find one that meets your needs.
Basically the more you pay the more the scanner will do & the better outfitted it is & maybe in kit form with cables to scan older vehicles. Or at least offer the cables as extras, for the vehicle/s you have.
If you don't have or plan to have, older vehicles, then having the ability to scan them with the special cables needed isn't important to you.
With me, I need all the help I can get on all my rides, so I opted for the Actron CP9150 kit that has cables for all my older & newer rides, it contains the CP9145 scanner & is very easy to use & will scan everything from 1985 to present.
If I can hook it up & use it the first time, anyone can!!!!
