2002/3 rear diff ass'y shortage?

2002/3 rear diff ***'y shortage?
My 2002 is in the shop getting a new rear differential assembly as a fix for "the whine". Evidently every dealer in the world is needing this part. What expected delivery dates are you guys/gals getting regarding this assembly? The story I get is Ford (or their vendor) is building new ones and my dealer is hopeful of a part showing up late next week. Anyway, my vehicle is 7 feet in the air at Morrie's Minnetonka Ford for the forseeable future. Not quite sure why they took it apart without first seeing if they could get the part. Oh well.
