vauumn leak?
i know i may be flogging a dead horse, (or in my case a dead truck) but anyone have any ideas on this problem? have a fluctuating needle with low vacumn on a newly rebuild engine, had #4 wrist pin come loose on start up wich damaged cylinder wall, has been repaired, piston and rings seemed ok. so they weren't replaced. compression test on all cylinders 137.5 lbs. vacumn at idle 13.5" talked to comp cams, they think i have a vac leak, had found a leak using ether when i sprayed it on the intake, head area, i flooded it there and the engine stalled, corrected that(or so it seems) but still have the low vac with a smaller fluctuation. when i crank it over with the coil, etc unhooked so it won't start it pulls a very small vac which also fluctuates, tried this on my sons truck(also a 351 w) it pulls the same amount of vac but with out the fluctuation, according to the books i've been looking at it seems i may have a weak cylinder(thus the fluctuation at idle and cranking. but with 137.5 on all cylinders is this possible? and i hve a long hose on the gauge so its not a vibration. thanks
