Shifting question
Hello
Got a quick question for yall. I have the 4.2L V6 in my '01 F-150 XLT supercab with the 5-speed manual. I am very familiar with 18-wheelers, grew up around them, and knew how to drive them. And I also know that you can shift them without using the clutch once your rolling. Their built to take that use. Now, I tried the same thing with my Ford and was able to do it as well. What I would like to know is will this put any excess wear and tear on my tranny or clutch?? Transmissions are not my strong point in autotmotives. Dont know them all that well. Engine work is more my thing. lol. Any advice on this question would be great. Thanks
Jeff

I overheard a transmission man asked the same question a while ago.. and his answer was:
"WHY??"
when told he was a truck driver, yadda yadda yadda, he mumbled something about ruining synchros and such.. and clutches are cheaper than trans rebuilds..
I am no tranny man but hope this helps.
cheers
