I have a 94 f-150 and I'm trying to swap out the original 302 with a 351W. I want to know what I'll need to change to do this. I don't think its as simple as just switching one engine for the other. Any tips or advice?
if you are using the whole engine they are virtually the same motor. head placement on the 351 motor is just a tad higher so you may have to get new headers made for the 351.
If you have a Mass air motor then the rest is easy. If not, you may have problems with the fuel management of the speed density computer. Check and see if the computers are the same on a 351/302 and if so you are golden.. if not, you will need a new computer or switch to mass air (and if you plan on doing mods to the motor you would find it advantageous to do it as well).
Other than that should be a straight swap.
hope this helps..
cheers,
Bdd
PS if you want to do a mass air conversion email me.
