idle question
Yes,I was wondering if my idle was right on my f150 4.6 triton year 2001.
when in gear the idle sits at 800 rpm
park or neutrel it revs up to 1100 rpm.
Also is it true that when you move from drive to neutrel the rpm should stay the same.
And at start up it revs to 1200 rpm ,also I forgot to mention that the truck is a automatic. thanks again.

thanks for the quick reply to my thread, I must say that my feeling was that it was a little fast for I just bought the truck and I am not familar with all the in and outs of the vehicle, but so far I love the truck and I will try a new IAC in the truck and I will let you know how it go's.

Good news I finally have my idle working properly and boy do I feel good about that,it holds at seven hundred rpms in and out of gear. For I must say it was driving me nuts trying to find out why it was doing that.
I ending up doing most everything as far as cleaning and flushing goes and also changed the Iac valve but that did not quite do it,so it was kind of a fluke how the truck ended up correcting it self.
Anyhow how it happened was I pulled the pvc valve of while the truck was running ,and plugged the valve with my thumb to check for vacum, and thier was a lot
I did that for about 15 seconds and since that, the idle has been perfect since then, and that was five days ago and I have run the truck alot since then.
Also could you let me know what I might have done by doing what I did if anything.
