Wink Re arching leaf springs

I found a place that will rearch my springs. I have to remove them and take them in. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the differential clearance to the rear bed after lowering it? Also, has anyone rearched the front springs? Its on a 56 Ford truck. Very curious??????? I love to hear pros and cons.

Hmm... weird. Why would they ask you to remove them and bring them in? When I had mine done, the place removed them, de-arched them, and re-installed them. If you take the leaf springs out, how do they know how much they can de-arch them??? Are you supposed to measure and hope to hell you're right? Wouldn't they want to see them on so they can determine how much they can drop the truck? and also discuss with you how much you want the truck dropped?

Call me crazy, but I think this place you found is a crap-shoot. Sounds to me like they just want to make the quick buck, then they can blame it on you if they don't come out right. Weak, weak, weak, IMHO. I'd seriously consider finding another place that'd take the time and do it right, not just bend your leaf springs to some random number that sounds to you like a good amount of drop.

I agree with 59.....i just had my springs done and took them off myself....had them done to specs and now the truck's rake is off....i have to take the truck to the shop now and have them dearched a little to get that rake right....IMHO...take the truck to the shop....it is better that way and they can get it right the first time for you...

WOW! I didn't know that... I spoken to a few people who also stated to take them off and have the suspension place rearch the springs. Makes sense to me what you guys are telling me. 59, your in CA. Do you remember who did yours or can you recommend a place? I'm in the Santa Clarita Valley, north of LA. Thanks guys! I owe you one on this one....

Imlowr2,

The place that did mine is in Visalia, called Gross & Stevens. Visalia is about 2 - 2.5 hours north of S.C. Valley. Their number is: (559)734-4649. Ask for John . Both he and Larry know hot rods and street mods, and know how to do them right. Call them and go over with them what you have and what you want to do. Meantime, I'll E-mail you with specifics...
