Ignition won't turn
I have a 97' f250 hd 7.3 powerstroke. I went to start it the steering is locked and the ignition won't turn. Never had this problem before and it won't budge now. the tires are straight had no pressure on them when steering was locked. I tried the key, hard and light, moving the steering wheel back and forth, making sure its in park. Nothing has got it to move at all. I have taken off the bottom cover in hoping to see a rod that may hold the ignition locked from the steering but there is nothing mechanical that I can see to free the ignition. Can anyone come up with a way I can fix this before calling a locksmith? Thank You.

i hear a lot of posts on this. had the same problem on a 91 f150. is seemed when the wheel was tilted a certain point and turned, internally it would hit the ignition. friend of mine pulled the wheel and was able to make a centering adjustment to keep it from hitting the ignition. that truck got so bad sometimes it would lock up while driving. talk about freaking out!
