NEED HELP WITH TRANNY QUICK
Will a transmission from a 2wd fit an explorer with a 4wd? My 92 explorer (4.0 automatic) has the A4LD and the person told me that the 2wd that they are parting out also has the A4LD but he's not sure if it will work on a 4wd. The parts car is a 91 explorer with a 4 liter engine. Please tell me if the transmission will work in mine.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-Dec-02 AT 04:32 PM (EST)]You have to move over the extension housing from the old transmission. The only part that is in the housing is the parking pawl. A4LDs from non 4.0L engines will not work. Output shaft and some internal components are different. Recommend that you replace low/reverse servo O-rings when you do this and polish speed governor steel valve when the housing is off.
