engine ticking under load

engine ticking under load
out on the highway, under a load, up a hill and passing. i hear a ticking. it only does this when out driving and under a load, not idleing or cruzing down hill.
any one have an idea of what is causing this ?

currently i am using the cheap stuff 87 octane, the good stuff it too expensive. I will run my tank dry and fill it up with the higher octane fuel and see what that does.
