I have a 92 xlt lariat. The driver side door lock will not release. I was wondering if any one else has had this problem. I don't want to cut the door panel off or put a hole in it unless I have too. I got all the screws out of the panel but one. But the door will not open so there is not much room to work on it Help!!!
Most likely the spring clip that holds the door lock rod has broke or popped off. If its power then your solenoid could be dead. Either way you have to get the door open and panel off to get in there and fix it. To get in there you'll have to slim-jim it from the outside its not difficult if you know what to "feel" for . I can't really explain how its done you have to had a mispent youth Tow truck company can do it quickly for you or chance it yourself watch the paint!
I think Coplin's right on.
this happened to me on my 94 and the clip that attatched the rod to the lock cylinder was PLASTIC and broke. <grrrr> All that hasle for a $4 part of two cent plastic.
But anyways, if you dont have tripleA drive it to a mall and lock you keys inside. Call mall security and they'll slim jim the door for you <evil grin> free. (it might be a good idea to bring a spare key in case you get a coupla newbs. LOL yes this is a true story in case you were wondering.
