My hood latch (the one in the cab) has been stiff since I got my truck... but now it WILL NOT open. I've even gone so far as to stick a 1x1 behind it and pull on that. How the hell do I get the hood open now?
Finally got it, with the 1x1... Can anyone tell me WHY it's so bloody hard to open? It's so stiff it feels like you're gonna rip the whole thing right out. And I don't want another escapade like this one. Good grief.

Maybe try lubricating the cable and under hood latch with wd40. Make sure the latch under the hood works smoothly, then you know it's the cable. You could change the cable if that dosn't help.
Thing is, if I latch it while the hood is up (push the latch to the closed position on my own) it's just fine... Like the hood just puts way too much pressure on it?? Maybe?
You may need to "adjust" the cable slightly. The cable may not actually be pulling the latch far enuf due to wear. Also WD-40 is not a good lubricant. Use CRC Power Lube or another good penetrating lubricant. While you are working on the hood make an aux pull cable/wire that hangs out of the grill to activate the latch. Remove it when you are done with your "adjustments".
