Where is a source for quality sway bar and radius arm bushings? I have checked the Motorhaven on-line store, PST (they only sell them in large kits with plenty other parts that I don't need, as well as Dennis Carpenter. They are needed for a '79 F150 4x4. Thanks for any input.
Discount Auto Parts has been able to supply me with the individual bushings that I have needed for my truck. So far everything has been in supply on the shelf. They have had stock replacement rubber and higher quality polyurethane bushings to choose from. Just know exactly what you are looking for and exactly what it looks like. I've found their computer doesn't call a particular bushing by the same name we do. Probably ain't a bad idea to take your take offs with you when you go to get new ones. The same is probably true for the rest of the chain stores.
Nah, the're a chain store, like Autozone and Advance auto. Try the better known and older stores like NAPA, mabye even Car Quest. They should be able to help you.
I just bought a set of poly radius arm bushings at Autozone, too. The guy said they were $4.99 for the set. I told him to check again, he did, said it's $4.99, so I bought 'em. It was the entire kit with bushings, washers, spacers and all. I still think he had the price wrong.
I just tried to order the track bar bushings Friday. Autozone doesn't have them and their parts company said they're unavailable. Have to go to another place today at lunch.
That's what I was talking abut when I said their computers don't have the bushings listed by the names that we refer to them by. I took my old trac bar bushings with me and after several trips back and forth to the stock shelves in back, parts dude finally came back with the trac bar bushings. I wish I could remember what they had them listed as on their computer. That was at a Discount Auto Parts chain store near Atlanta.
When I was at autozone, I found the parts listed in one of their books (Perfect Circle, I think) and it was called a track bar bushing. However, PC discontinued the part.
I called another place 15 minutes ago and ordered them. This parts store carries Moog and the part number for the track bar bushing kit (one per truck) is K8447. It's $21.57.
That's for my 78 F150 4x4, but my 79 looks to be exactly the same. The frame/bracket end has a 1/2" or 9/16" (can't remember) bolt and the axle has a bigger one (like 3/4").
