I just bought a 1999 f150 extended cab with the 4.6l engine, I just had the audio shop put in an amp for me, and now the truck is not as responsive on the throttle, I do not know if it was them of just a fluke, my Tachometer quit working and started working again, for some reason I think a fuse is blown somewhere, how can I check if this truck has a mode chip in it? they ran the power off of the battery so I do not see how that could of hurt anything? any info would help.

Reason: Change title
first if your tach quit working then came back on theres no way it could be a fuse i would check where they ran the wires for your new amp and see if the messed up any wiring for the tach and the only possibility i could see with the new amp cutting down on your throttle response would be if the new amp is somehow drawing enough current to load down the rest of your electical and therefore give you a bad spark
if it were my truck i would take it to autozone and have them run a free diagnostic on it to see if any codes come up
Hi xtank and welcome
If they had a battery terminal off when they installed the amp, and they probably did, it may take a little bit more driving for the trucks PCM (computer) to relearn how everything is supposed to be.
Give it a day or 2 and see if the throttle response is how it should be or if you need to investigate some more.
