Own a ‘01 X Limited with keypad and alarm. Seems like the wife and I need some education on how to use the darn thing. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
EVERY time I use the keypad with the factory code to unlock the doors the alarm goes off. From the moment I hit the first button until I hit the last button and the doors open. ALSO the alarm will sound after I open the truck and try to start it, unless I use the KEY FOB to unlock the doors again???<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
What needs to be done to reset the alarm to not go off?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
do I need to see my dealer?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
Has any one else had this occur?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
I will add that the keypad was such a big deal to my wife when we bought the truck that she would not look at any vehicles without one.<o:p></o:p>
First off I dont think it is equipped with a factory alarm. If it has aftermarket alarm the domelamp is apperantly triggering the alarm. Factory alarm systems are turned off using the key in the door. I dont recall ever working on an Excursion with factory alarm. Most are lucky to have keyless entry.
Actually ALL Excursion have keyless entry but they didn't come with an alarm. I would agree that if an alarm is going off then it is definantly aftermarket and seemingly wired wrong.
Gotta love that keypad! Certainly a great feature. Especially when I go to the beach and don't want to worry bought losing my keys in the sand while frolicking in the Pacific.
Just to finish this off- it seems like it was a after market alarm- it was wired wrong- and as a work around I found a little flashing red light on my dash- pressed it once and now it no longer self activates- and thus- my key pad does not set it off! Thanks for the help
