Test Pipe?

I want to get a test pipe for my 86 F150 4x4 302/AOD to see if the cats are really causing my power loss problems. Does anyone know where I can get one?

The problem is, I don't think that they can be sold to just anybody.

Since your converters are built into your Y pipe, you would need an exhaust shop to fab up some custom pipes to bypass your converter. If you want to check your converters backpressure you can purchase a pressure gauge that threads into your o2 sensor bung.

I got an old cat at a junkyard and hollowed it out. Funny thing, I forgot to put the real cat back on and the truck passed Massachusetts emissions with flying colors..
YMMV

Cleaned out cats can cause excessive backpressure. Loss of torque.

How can removing a restriction in the exhaust such as a converter, cause more backpressure. As long as you are running a muffler your torque should not be affected in a bad way. Your power and fuel mileage should increase.
