I found for 109 dollars the 15" Rockford Fosgate HE2 1000watt. That has been the planned sub. At walmart though I saw a Sony Xplode 12 rated at 1100 watts for about 90 some dollars. I am not sure what model it was but what do you think would be the better sub? Is the Fosgate quality worth extra? I figure w/ the Sony if I screw it up though I can take it back to walmart.
Depends on what you are planning on putting either one in, if you have enough space for the 15 and enough power (amp) you'd never regret the 15, however, to get the proper volume of box it is going to take a lot of space. i.e. around 1.5 cu. ft.
Rockford is definetly worth it. Yea the xplods MAX watts is 1100, that doesnt mean its ever gonna hit that hard. Look at the RMS rating. I know the RF is like 500RMS. The xplod is abot 350rms, so I would definetly go with Fosgate...But it is your choice though.

IMO, pick the lesser of 2 evils, the RF. Xplode is a fitting name for those Sony subs.
i read in a dealer mag that the sony xplod handled 1100 watts at 45hz i believe.........for about 10 seconds and then you smelled voice coils. the new sony xplod stuff is crap. the rf he2's are actually almost decent subs, i would go with it.
The rockford is the better choice 1 because of long history rockford has with building sub and 2 because with the sony xplodes the dust caps will blow off and ive heard of sony not giving warranty on it so knowing that the choice is still up too you.
