i was just wondering if any of you guys have installed the puddle lights on ur explorer if it didnt already come with it on there. how much work would it take. Will a mirror with puddle lights from say a 99 explorer fit on a 96 explorer? ive got a real good guy who really knows how to hook stuff like that up cheap, so as long as it would fit, i think id be ok. so, will it fit? also, will running boards off say a 98 EB Explorer, fit a 96 EB ExploreR? coz i want running boards with lights...lol, thanks for your input!. BTW, thanks a bunch 96explorerEB, you helped alot on my Auto dimming mirror. The whole reason i got the darn thing was for the light delay feature, and when i got mine installed, it didntwork. And i took it back, and told him what u said about the hot all the time wire, he felt stupid, and fixed it for me free of charge. If you hadnt said that, i would have basically wasted 50dolalrs for the mirror, and 30 for installation. Thansk
I have not installed the puddle lights before, but I believe they will work for you. The only thing you will have to do is do the wiring - I don't think there will be factory wiring for them on the 96.
As far as the running boards go - they will swap out easily. Again though, you will have to wire the lights to the door pin, or something to pull their power from. I have been thinking of doing the same thing to mine....
