+100 MPH speedometer

Does anyone know a company that sells and/or installs speedometers that go more than 100 mph, either in replacement of the factory one or as an add-on gauge? I hate having to guess my speed. And not to be offensive, but this thread is NOT for people to give speeches about speed, breaking the law, or anything to that effect. If thats all you can post, please dont bother. I doubt im the only person at this site that would like one. (Sorry, dont mean to be blunt but i know how things escalate here sometimes)

are the GPS speed readings accurate? how fast do they refresh? that sounds like a pretty darn good idea, i would like the GPS even without the speedo...

Yes - had a Garmin 2610 Nav that was SUPER and accurate - as accurate as the speedo at least :-) now that's in flat Texus :-) maybe going up and donw 45 degreee "hills" may skew the mph some...

My buddy runs a GPS in his dodge- he loves the (snip) out of it...He fishes in the ocean and there are many harbors out his way, and the GPS leads him right to the truck each time!!

Use the GPS to mark various steady speeds above one hundred on your tach and then you will know pretty close your speed at various rpms. 4000 = jail.

LOL Kurt...
did the same thing YEARS ago in college when my speedo cable had busted...
took a marker and just drew lines in for the mainly posted speed limits...
just as a reference siince I never followed the speed limits anyway, you know !!!!

the thing that will REALLY get you laughing at me is how I KNEW when to mark...

riding on the interstate outside our college town (just happened to be going to another bar at the time - and my buddy is yelling mph out his window while I'm marking it on mine - !>!>!>!>!???!?!!?!?!?

WOW - we did some stupid things then - didn't we !!!

Oh, that's right - I'm not over it yet

I've used a Garmin 3 plus for a few years and really like it for driving and fishing. The GPS has gotten me to the island up in Canada more than once at night. With the GPS I've noticed how far off my speedometer is with larger tires too. When I had my chip in the fastest I went was around 2nd gear which must have been around 120mph. A guy once told me he thought he had his going around 140mph with a Superchip.

Thumbs up 528 mph on garmen etrex

The GPS units are very accurate and the sky is the limit as to how fast it can read. On vacation i left the GPS unit on in my carry on bag by accident. When i got home the Max Speed read 528mph. Wow!!! Glad it did not screw up the onboard aviation computers.

It is very accurate as well. We use it in the boat for waterskiing. Accurate to 1/10 of a mph. and updates every 1 second. The cost is about one hundred beans at any outdoor type store.
