Help with installing a new throttle position sensor!

I am trying to install a new throttle position sensor on my 1985 F-150 5.0 liter engine, and I am lost as to any specifics. Is there a trick to it? I placed the sensor with wires comming out to the left, from the Air intake, and still have problems. The books mention something about a scribe ?? Is there anything else that need to be done? There are no instructions with the unit that I purchased (surprise -surprise)
Any help would be appreciated.

You need to check the voltage I think between the Black and Green/ black wires with the throttle closed. Stick 2 pins in the wires and check with a digital volt meter. Needs to be .9 to 1 volt with the igniton on and throttle closed. Adjust the voltage by moving the TPS and then lock it down by tightening the scews and then check again. Must be done with the throttle body off of the upper intake.

Actually the voltage range that is allowed on the 5.0 EEC-IV is .98 - 1.21 with the throttle closed. I've got the book right here. Also just replaced my TPS with no problems.

Don't forget to check it with the throttle wide open (should be around 5V) and always check for reference voltage.
