A/C removal

I came, I searched, I did not find . . . . .

'86 F-150 XLT 4x4 EFI 302

Since the A/C belt was never there and I've never needed A/C in the truck, I've decided to pull it all out . . . plus the compressor is locked up. Is there anything I should watch out for? I'm assuming that it's no longer under pressure since it hasn't been hooked up for so long (over six years, for sure). Can the unit be taken out of the heater plenum without much trouble? Will it effect the truck if I pull the condensor out from in front of the radiator? All other info is appreciated.

I'm not planning on having A/C in the truck again. Also, I start my vacation time tomorrow and I have to do something.

I've got the same truck. Took mine out right after I bought it last year.
Removing the coil from in front of the radiator might help your cooling a bit.
I'd leave the coil in the dash. It is a pain to get to and really doesn't hurt anything staying there.
Have at it when it comes to removing the compressor, drier, and the low and high pressure lines. There is likely not any freon in the system.

One thing you may want to do is secure the connector and cover its terminals from the Compressor clutch.

With no compressor, it's a lot easier to work on that 302. Distributor, coil, thermostat, and several other items will be a lot easier to wrench on with all of that stuff out of the way.
