Temp Control - is this normal??

I bought my 97EB used. It had the blend door problem when I got it and I just got it fixed (with a new plenum installed) a couple of weeks ago. I have heat now but I'm not sure how the system is supposed to operate.

The AUTO setting seems to work okay. But when I use any of the other settings, all I get is hot air! For example, yesterday was really nice - 65 and sunny - so instead of heat, I thought it would be nice to get some fresh air. I pushed the VENT button - fresh HOT air. I changed the temp on the display to max cold (60 degrees) -- still hot. Okay - so I decide to try the A/C. Works fine on AUTO and MAX A/C, but as soon as I press any other button - HOT AIR.

What's the deal? Do I still have a problem or is this another automotive engineering marvel that make decisions for me instead of letting me control my own environment?

HELP !!!

Never used the electronic climate control system but it almost sounds like you're still having a problem w/ the blend door. I would have the dealer check it since it was only done a couple of weeks ago. Good luck

Thanks -

For those of you who haven't had the famous 'blend door' problem, how does the heat/cool/vent work on you Explorer? The same way?
