Has anyone purchased the emblem overlays for the Ford Ovals? I am particularly interested in seing a picture of one that is all ready installed. I looked at the carbon fiber and American Flag models, but I want the Texas Flag model... This is our chance to reply to the Texas "bowties" I am seeing EVERYWHERE!!!!
What I was originally picturing was a CNCed texas shape with an oval cut out of the middle so it could be placed around the oval grill emblems... but when I searched ebay, that was all I could find...
Ok guys I ordered my emblems Thursday. Let me find the links and I will post them here. Sorry, I had to go to Georgetown for the Weekend. I didn't even log onto the net.
that's pretty cool... i like that .. too bad my truck don't have the ford oval on it.. it's supposed to have the letters across the hood but the PO pulled them off and had the holes bondo'd up so i gotta get them remounted sometime when i get the chance or can pay someone who knows what they're doing do it. i gotta get the mirrors put back on too cuz he had those pulled too... when i get that done i can probly get the window sticker ford oval tx flag thing.. haha ...
hey your trucks gonna look sweet with those on there!!
Sounds like a pretty well modified truck... Too bad the PO didn't leave it alone so you could do your own modifications... Good luck on your truck and thanks!
Hey Connie, if you have all of the letters, and can reach the holes from the backside, you can remove the bondo in the holes with little or no damage to the paint.
I'd start out with a 1/16" drill bit from the backside and drill through the center of the hole. Then from the front, lay some masking tape over the holes and start drilling the holes out with 1/16" larger bits until you get the holes large enough to push the pins through.
If you cannot reach the holes from the back to get started, Findd a hood in the salvage yard and trace a template onto a sheet of tracing paper. Make sure to make a few easily recognizable reference marks from the center of the hood, front lower edge, etc. This way you can line up the paper to your hood and hopefully drill right through the old holes. I had to do this on a friends 61 Olds one time, Oldsmobile, 20 holes, new paint. Only one small mistake but the "d" covered the small nick in the paint.
They are not cheap and I have not received them yet, so I have no idea how they fit. The 8" x3" are the correct size for the 04 f150. The actual size is a bit smaller to fit inside the chrome part of the oval. I will create a gallery when I get them in and installed.
They have a lot of great decals. I can't let those Bowtie maniacs show me up anymore with thier emblem... (The only thing I like about the Chevys. I am just going for the "less is better" approach. Some mods, but still keep it looking fairly stock. After all, this is one sweet looking truck right off the showroom floor.
there's no way for me to get to the holes from the back but that's a good idea about the tracing paper. now i just gotta find one to trace... and also the doors for the mirrors to get them put back on ... they are those little square ones and i can't decide if i want those or if i want the big ones ... anyway, thanks for the tip
