I dont know if this belongs here or not but here goes.....
I was working on the drag car I help out with and we busted the valve cover hold down bolt somehow. They came out nice and easy but that one going back in just snapped. Anyway we tried an easyout and it broke also! Now I cant seem to get a drill bit to bite into the hardend steel of the easy out. We cant pull the head and have a machine shop do it right now. Have to race tomorrow night. My team is first in points and we have to be there!!!
HELP ME!!!! Any ideas guys??????
The only thng that might bite into the easy out is a carbide drill bit. It will have to be turned fairly slow and use a lot of pressure. They carbide bits are real brittle so make sure you wear eye protection. It really sounds like it needs to be burned out with an EDM machine but the head will have to come off. Good luck.
Find your Snap On dealer and take the broken part of the tap with you. They sell a broken tap remover. When you get the tap out you need to check the depth of the hole.
