Tranny troubles

I have a 1996 F250 4x4. We were camping a couple of weeks ago and I love to fourwheel and I found myself in about 4 and half feet of water. I got out pretty easily but tranny overheated and now it will not shift out of 2nd gear. I have already had it completely flushed but I'm not real familiar with an electronic overdrive and I was wondering if anyone knew if the electronics could cause this problem.

Not sure about the tranny but if the connectors got wet there may be corrosion. Also might check if your computer got wet. You didn't say if the truck was in water for a long time and whether the inside of the cab got wet, usually the computer is in the cab. I am not familiar with all the sensors used now a days so there may be a sensor or two that got soaked and may be corroded.

I would also recommend changing fluid in the differentials and transfer case if you were in that much water. Also may be worth changing the engine oil.

Good Luck.
