I've got an 87 302 engine I'm going to be using. It appears from what I've read it has a 50 oz. imbalance factor. It originally had an AOD transmission and flex plate. I bought a bellhousing and flywheel for an 84 F-150 with a manual tranny since I'm using a T-18. The flexplate I'm getting rid of and flywheel both have 164 teeth. Does this sound like it will work together and does the flywheel have to go on in a certain position? Thanks for any info.
81 and older 302 use 50 oz weight. 82 and up use 28 oz weight.
yes the 84 will work on the 87.
from what i understand, all 351 w use the 28oz flywheel/flexplate.
they will both have 164 teeth, but the pressure plates are differant.
84 used a mechanical clutch linkage. the pressure plate has 3 fingers. the 87 uses a diaphram type pressure plate and a hydraulic accuated clutch. the 3 finger plate will hit the clutch fork at the pivot and lock everything up.
beleive me i know. just got thru pulling a motor 3 times before i figured out what i did wrong!

That is wrong. 81-earlier 302 have 28oz imbalance, 82-later have 50oz. Yes all 351w have 28oz imbalance. The bolt holes are drilled so the flywheel will only bolt on in one position and have all six holes lined up.
