towing mirrors

Hello everyone. I have a 97 F250 and was wondering if anyone knows where I can find the extensions where you take your existing door mirrors off and attach them to a slide bracket that has a set screw. I have seen them on similar trucks and it seems like it works well. When you need the extra width, just loosen the set-screw, slide the mirror out and tighten the set-screw. What price can I expect to pay?

Thanks in advance!
Jeff

I got mine at a local RV dealer. Don't remember the brand, but they cost about $15.

Judging by your screen name, sounds like you are handy with metalworking. The extension can be made easily enough from 1"x 1/8" steel flat stock or 1/4" aluminum. My friend did this on his '86 F250 for his camper. On my '92, I just got a pair of 7x10 old style swing out camper/trailer mirror heads and 'L' pipes (like '70's Fords and Chevys had) and bolted them to the stock mirror mount hole on the stock Ford swing-out bracket. Works good, looks good and didn't cost much. The stick out wide enough to see around the camper fine. I like the large rectangular mirrors because the stick-on blind spot mirrors don't take up so much viewing area.
