I just bought a 2002 F350 PSD with 68K miles on it a few months ago. Never used to tow and is in great condition. Recently, I am getting drops of what appear to be oil from just in front of the oil pan. It drips from what looks to be a metal shield with a single preforated hole at the bottom. When I got under it I can see that it appears to be coming from the engine on the passenger side.
I cant tell if this is from a possible gasket leak or what, it's just a drop or two each time I park but it never used to have this problem.
I have also noticed what appears to be build up or leak around the rubber connection to the turbo. (Is this normal)
Yep....I can see a build up of somthing in the valley. It appears to be from the manifold and air connections of the turbo. This area was clean when I got the truck (probably from the engine detail job), now there is a lot of grime and gunk in this area.
Is this normal and how can I fix the drip? Really do not want to take it in to the shop when I can wrench on my own...
Four possibilities:
1. Pedestal or turbo "O" ring leak.
2. High pressure oil pressure leak(s).
3. Major intercooler turbo boot leaks.
4. Valve cover leaks.
Thanks for the info ....I have the the residue/grime on the intercooler duct connection by the manifold air heater and it appears to be accumulating in the valley causing the overflow.
I'll check in the morning on your 4 possibilities..
Is this somthning I can fix on my own? I have heard that messing with the turbo should be left to the pros....
maybe they corrected this in '02.my 99 ruined my fishin trip in wyoming last week. pulled over to take a leak going up snowy range rd.,notice my truck was too! It was runin out across valley pan and down to the tc shield.o- ring sticking out of bottom rear plug on hpop.backtrack to laramie,wy.no o-rings at napa or ford dealer ,used a/c o-ring from ford to get me to cheyenne, it worked.ford in cheyenne had the correct ones.3 o-rings and a tube of locktite for $23 in a kit warning of this problem only way you can get them.bought a rachet and a 11/16 socket and 2 mins. and I was done.the other two o-rings go on oil line fittins, take a special tool, but they were tight. From reading earlier threads ,I should have had this done.wasted 10hrs,lots of stress and no fish. When I got home I told to ps owners, one a 2000 and his plug was loose.
