Started the engine for the first time......Oops!
I have been doing this for the past month (i work kinda slow) but today I finnaly fired her up!.....But I messed up.
I forgot to check what position the linkage was in!
The throttle was wide open! Not knowing this I fired it up, and BOOM it fired but it was ideling WAY too high!! at about 4500-5000 rpm! hmmmm I wonder why
. In a panic I shut it off, (it was running for at a max of 4 seconds probably)Anyway, I looked at the linkage and found the problem, I just need to adjust the bracket a bit and it should be fine. I took off the linkage and fired it up w/o the throttle and it sounded alright (much better then before) but the carb still needs to be tuned & adjusted, but thats normal. There was a little ticking sound that we think was a lifter because it had been sitting a while and the oil may need to circulate a bit more (I didnt run it very long). There was oil pressure so thats good.
Anyway, do you think I could have ruined anything by running it that high RPM right at the start?
Thanks,
Nick~
