I put on some after-factory nerf bars...or whatever you call them. Stainless steel step bars that run the length of the cab. Don't know if you get off of pavement at all, but they are really easy to clean around, and they look pretty good. Sort of a custom touch. And they make it a lot easier for my youngest son to climb up into the cab. But if you want stock...yeah, try a wrecker. Of course, color keyed will be hard to find.
I have put western nerf bars on my 4x4 150 and have had to replace them 1 time and am about to replace them again. Seems that road grit gets under the factory coating and creates rust. Did I just get a couple bad sets or are they all like that. Maybe I should get runnin boards.
The nerfs rust out? I live in a rural area...mostly gravel roads here...and a harsh climate too...and I have not had that problem. Then again, if you are referring to the chrome nerfs, yes, I can see how that could happen. I went with stainless steel and they have held up nicely for many years now.
OK, that could be the reason, I travel some dirt roads as well, and I had the black nerf bars. I guess that is the reason... Thanks,
Anyone had any luck with running boards?
Taterbug,
I am going to be putting some aftermarket one on my 03 F-150 Supercrew I can sell you mine for a good price, when are you looking to get some put on?
It would prolly be prohibitively expensive to ship them accross the country. I live in Raleigh, NC. Thank you very much for the offer. I appreciate it.
