Funny sound while driving / Engine additive advice
1. For a short itme now my '97 4.0L SOHC automatic has been making a funny sound while I drive. It gets louder as I go faster, but it doesn't change pitch as the motor changes gears. At first I thought it may be the tranny, since it started at around the same time I got the tranny flushed, but I don't think that is the problem any more. My dad thinks that it could be a rear bearing since it just gets louder with more speed and doesn't change with the gear changes. Does anybody have any idea?
2. I have a new motor thanks to Ford due to the cam chain guide problem. My father-in-law, being the hot rodder that he is, advised me to put Duralube or one of the other engine treaments in the motor after about 10,000 miles. I know that it can't hurt to do, but does anybody have advice as to which one of the engine treatments would be better?
Thanks again...happy and safe driving this year.
-John
