2000 explorer wheel bearing problem
I have a 2000 explorer with 52000K. It has developed the characteristic humm in the from left. Nothing upon inspection indicates an external problem when I pull the wheel, but I suspect it is the wheel bearing. It gets worse when turning one way, and goes away when turning to the other.
I was told by Ford garage that the whole hub assembly would need to be replaced because just the WB (if this is ehat it is) cannot be replaced. Any one with a similar experience?

Usually if the noise happens when you turn to the right the problem is in the left side as there is more load on it. If the noise happens when you turn left the problem is in the right side. The wheel bearings aren't serviceable....you have to replace the whole hub/bearing assembly.
