Airbag problems

I replaced clockspring in my 01 F150 but the airbag light is still blinking. Can anyone help with how to turn it off?

I believe about 9 times, if I counted correctly.

It should flaah a two code sequence.. for example code 32 would be three flashes, a short pause then two flashes. This will be followed by a long pause then the sequence starts again and will do this for 5 sequences and then remain lit continously. Find out the sequence and then let us know. Unfortunately many newer models have flash codes with multiple meanings and requires a scan tool to retrieve the exact fault. Your 9 flashes may be 2 and then 7 which would be code 27, which usually indicates a problem with the passenger air bag deactivation switch, often due to the bulb being burned out in it.

Thanks for the info. I will check that. I believe it blinked once before the nine. I will look again to make sure though.

I was also wondering if maybe the codes just need to be cleared? If so is that something I can do myself or will I have to take it to a shop?

If it was 19 then that means that for some reason the restraint control module thinks that the vehicle has been in a crash and the air bags have been deployed which i dont think has happend to you. First i would try to clear the codes by unhooking the battery and i always like to connect the - and + cables together to discharge the capaciters in the computers. Do this for half hour or so. Then see if the light comes back on again. If it does post back and we'll try to help.

I tried it, the airbag light is still blinking. That is the correct error code though. I failed to mention that my airbags were deployed, but I have since replaced both airbags and the clockspring. Thanks for your help

I believe you are going to have to replace the air bag monitor if the accelleration threshold has been exceeded. Ive seen plenty of these that wont reset. Ford says it is REQUIRED to replace it after ANY deployment.

Is that a part I should buy from Ford I guess? Is that something I could replace myself? Other people have said I would need to take it to ford and have them wipe the codes, is that a possibility?

Thanks for all your help and reponses. Sorry there are so many questions.

I would have the dealer replace it, as it will need to be configured with NGS scanner. They can also let you know if there are any other faults needing corrected.
