2000 Ranger with Crickets in Engine
I have a 2000 Ranger (3.0L 4x4 ext cab) and It sounds like I have a huge cricket under my hood ( better discribed as a loud chirping when I start up which the noise gets better, almost to nothing, as the engine gets warmed up ). I just changed the serpaintine belt @ the start of this year...any thoughts on other causes of this noise and is it dangerous for me to be riding with it like this???
Thanks for any help in advance!!!
if you looke at the tentioner, the gap at the pivot point should be the same on both sides of it. if not, replace it.
does it also chirp when you trn the motor off as it powers down? thats what mine did.
How hard is this to do yourself??? How much should I expect a garage to charge? Could I get some illustrations to show what this pulley looks like? I am not a mechanic but I am handy

Could this cause damage if left as is...I do have a fairly new belt after all
