When I bought my truck it came with a "camper package."
Just what is that, and does that mean that my front end is going to be extra rigid?
Can anyone remove this feature and have a "regular" front end?
You see, the front end ride is getting to be a bit shakey on the nerves.
Thanks for any help.

Mine ('04) also came with the camper package. It also came with the heavy service front springs. I'm not sure if the heavy service springs are included with (or required by) the camper package or not. If you also have the heavy service front springs, I guess you could swap them out for the lighter duty ones. You may want to just think about a different set of shocks first. Much less $$$.
The camper package consists of a rear stabilizer bar and front springs that are rated 200lbs over whatever the computer said your truck needed for springs with the options ordered. Some say it also includes an overload or helper spring in the rear set that is not on the non camper package trucks, that I don't know for sure. There are numerous different spring sets for the front depending on what is ordered on the truck. I'm sure if you wanted, your dealer, or any spring shop for that matter could swap out a lighter set of springs. I have the camper package on my 6.0, it ended up giving me V code springs. I don't mind the ride at all. Check out "decihpering your vin"-- "vehicle certification label" at the top of this forum if you want to find out what your spring code is. Hope this helps.
My 04' F-350,XLT, 4x4,SC, V-10, 6-speed, DRW, with the 4;30 LS has the snow plow and camper package, it does have the helper spring in the rear, and the rear swaybar. Now it does ride kinda stiff, but when I hook up the 9' Fisher MM plow it hardly sags the front end, and I like that, this truck and setup works very well together, oh and it has manual hubs and manual transfer case shifter, all levers,, .
I oredered the camper package on my 04. I pull antique tractors from 6K to 10K and wanted the rear sway bar and rear helper springs that came with the package, did not really want or need the additional front spring rating. Does not seem to ride too bad, only 500 miles as of today. Philip.
