Just two questions...
1.) When should the spark plugs get changed on an explorer?
2.) How often should the fluid in the transfer case get changed? I don't use it alot, mostly in winter times, but I will switch it into 4 High and 4 Low a couple times a month just to keep everything inside moving.
The plugs are platinum, you could very well go 100,000 miles.....try it, if you run into a miss problem earlier, or your mileage is diminishing, like at 90000, replace plugs, wires, etc at the same time.
Use Motorcraft plugs, they came in your vehicle.
Fluid - I don't have any experience with transfer cases, but I would think the same interval as the rear end, which I would say 75,000 would be OK, I'd go 100,000.
I do the tcase every 30K or so, it trans fluid in there not heavy grease like the differential, which by the way based on my pickup should be done way before the 100K it says in the manual. I waited, and when I did finally do it, it was pretty awful in there. The front diff was still ok, poured out when the case was opened. The rear was like black mud which had to be scraped out essentially. I'll do the explorer bwtween 35 and 50K probably..
