I have 91 Ford Explorer and the rear antilock brake light is on. I hooked it up to a computer and it gave me a code nine (Means the sensor in the rear end is bad). So I replaced it and the light still comes on. I checked all the fuses. When I start it up the light will turn off, then after maybe thirty seconds to a minute it will come back on. The parking brake was frozen for a while, but I fixed it and adjusted the brakes. Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks
brad

How is the wiring to the rear sensor? It could be badly corroded, or the wires may be broken?

Just a thought.

I checked the connections down by the sensor but that has been it as far as checking wiring. I didn't expect it to be a wiring problem because when you start the vehicle the light will come on like it should and then go off, but then thirty seconds later it will come on again. I will check the wiring though. Could it possibly be something in the rearend that is causing the problem, even though the vehicle isn't moving when the light comes on. Having the brakes adjusted too far out or having a frozen emergency cable wouldn't have an effect on it would it?
thanks for all the help

Brad,

I have a 1992 Ford Explorer (4.0, A4LD, 4X4) with the identical problem that you described. What ever came of it?

Thanks,

Mike
