A friend showed me some pics from two magazines about the concept Bronco. I was June 2004 4-Wheel and Off Road (pg67) and July 2004 Popular Mechanics (also pg 67.) I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything more about this getting made and when? I REALLY like the looks of this and would consider getting one if I don't have to wait ten years for it. I currently have a 2001 F-150 and I can't stand the new design of the F-150 so I am shopping to figure out what I will be getting next. IF this thing gets made, it would be at the top of the list!
Looks pretty cool. However, I do not think FORD has a market for the Bronco without reducing its line-up. Unless they make the Bronco a limited edition...kinda like they did with the T-bird. Produce it for a few years and stop. FORD lately has been doing a lot of "retro"...and the sales have showed it.
I hope they do make it. It looks a lot like the original Bronco. But I'll bet you can't hose it out after a hard day of off roading (Like it would be priced so anyone would take it off road.)!
WAY too small. Looks like a lowered International Scout, IMHO.
I like the cut bumper for approach/departure angles, but then there's almost no room for flex, so what's the point? If it's fast, I suppose it could pass for a Bronco II, but not the distant relative of my Bronco.
I can deal with the plastic look... but it should be another 6-ish" taller at the suspension, and the roof should be another 3-4" higher... I like headroom.
EDIT!!! 2.0L(122ci)!?!?!? And they have the nerve to call it a Bronco!?

To each his own, and it is not like the later big-broncos. But have either of you ever seen a first generation (pre-1976) Bronco? It is a siliar size and shape to what they are showing as the new Bronco and it is the daddy of the Bronco line.
If they're going for original broncos I can see it... I just don't like those (at least not stock) I guess. I still say 6" taller and 3" more headroom.
With gas prices hovering around the $2.00 range a smaller to midsize SUV (especially a deisel) might be just the ticket. I hope they don't try a "limited run" like the Tbird - anybody want to guess how much that turkey costed Ford? A few more ideas like that and we'll all be discussing parts suppliers for the defunct manufacturer.
When can I order one ? I wouldn't mind if they just slap the old bronco body on a newer running gear set-up. This Bronco has to be made. I think there is a HUGE market for this Bronco.
That thing just sucks. I have known Bronco's and that is no Bronco.
Old87 i know you know broncos and I agree with your statement
A insult to the 66-77 crowd and 78-96 full sizers just look and laugh (true bronco fans) IMHO
I would have to say that I am one of those willing to line up right now to get one of these. I have always been a fan of short wheel based trucks and this goes right in line with that. Plus I have always liked the old box Bronco's but you just can't find them in any shape here in Southern Indiana. (road salt's eat trucks alive) I just hope that they keep the removeable top like the Jeep and price it so the average Joe can afFORD it. Truth be told, I really don't like ANY truck on the market right now so I am looking at SUV's...
For me, the older Broncos remind me of being in an old IH Scout with how it looks/feels. Myself, I like the 78-79 Broncos best, though all I have owned are an 85 and 86 full size. When I have the money it seems I can never find one until after I have bought something else.
I think a smaller turbo diesel would be a good move by Ford if coupled with a real off road drivetrain and it is not a mall cruiser.
