I have a 1999 f-350 psd, it has 130,000 miles on it. It had been doing fine until i put some diesel from a trucking company's fueling tanks for there big rigs. It was night time so i didn't pay any attention to the color of the diesel until a week later, it was clear like water. Since then my truck has been running rough not real bad but i can tell the difference. I have put diesel kleen, but it is still the same. Also when we fueled up the nozzle was to big so i was trying to remove the plastic to make the nozzle fit and some of the plastic fell in the tank. I don't know if that may be the problem. Or my injectors have gone bad? How can i check my injectors? I talked to the guy that works where i got the diesel and he said that they inspect there tanks all the time and there big rig's don't have problems with the diesel. I have also refueled my tank twice with regular diesel and it didn't help.
well everyone knows that when things get into the fuel tank that arent ment to go there usually can foul something up. it sounds like your truck maybe starving itself for fuel, this can be caused by a clogged line, a clogged filter or you might possibly have something blocking off your inlet to your pick up pump on your fuel tank. does your truck feel jumpy when you drive it? if its starving itself you should feel like there is a loss of power for a second or to then it runs the same, this will happen in a continuos cycle if its starving itself. this happened to me once only it happen at the fuel pressure regulator and the truck didnt run right at all as it was starving itself, but when i cleaned it up the truck ran great. this is all i can think of that would be causing this problem, so i hope this helps
i will use up my fuel and remove the tank and clean it, can i blow the lines back to the tank? and how do i remove the air if i do? I am going on vac to colorado, from south tx on the 25th of june, so i don't have much time to correct the problem.lol I hope that is the problem because it was doing fine until i broke that plastic and put that diesel about 2 weeks ago. Thank for the reply
oh and it does feel jumpy when i drive it, it still drives and picks up fast but not as good as it used to. Sometimes it shakes alot and some times very little i feel it mainly when i am stopped with the truck in gear, and a little when i take off. I put 2 different types of injector cleaners in my tank, i also bought a bottle of Lucas i was going to try also.
i know that on my '96 psd there is a schrader valve off the fpr to let out air in the fuel lines but im pretty sure that the newer rigs are set up diffrent so im not sure about how you would get the air out of the lines but i would have to say there is a schrade valve somewhere on the fuel system
