I posted this on another forum, but I figured I should post it here. I had my heart set on a diesel, but found this truck and I really like it. its an 02 Platinum edition F250 4x4 crew cab short bed, has a lift on it, probably around 8in, new 35in tires, all leather, power options, etc. It has the V10 gas in it. I figured I might as well test drive it so I did. Oh man thats motor has a lot of torque. Doesnt stop too well though, maybe the ABS needs to be recalibrated or something. Anyways, I have an older F350 with the winsor 351 5.8L gas in it right now. Can someone tell me how these would compare in power, mileage, etc. How do you post a picture? Ill put up a picture of it.
The Platinum editions are nice. Sound like a good truck. The V10 should have ALOT more power than your old 351. Based on my experiences, the mileage ssshould be a little less with the V10. Have you drove a PowerStroke diesel before? If you haven't you should to make sure you want this V10. Don't get me wrong, the V10 is a great engine, I just prefer the PSD. Really, getting either engine is based on your lifestyle. The PSD is a better daily driver because of the mileage. Diesel fuel around here is also usually about 15 cents per gallon cheaper than the cheapest gas. The diesel is also a better tower because of all of the torque. If both engines are stock, the V10 would be better for a speed demon. But with a few fairly cheap upgrades, the diesel can easily keep up with the V10. What lifestyle would this truck be used for?
Well I think im leaning towards gas. I will be driving the truck to school every day and around town and stuff, and would really rather not bother with the slower moving diesel. We tow trailers a little bit, but nothing that our 351w couldnt handle. probably under or around 5000 pounds. Maybe a trailer with 2 quads and gear or some lumber.
