rough idle/Intake leak
I have a 98 expy with the sohc v6. I have heard there is a recall for the timing chain tensioner on this engine. My questions are as follows. Has anyone had this recall performed? Do they remove the intake manifold when doing this repair? What are the complaints that point to this recall? The reason I ask is that I have a rough idle on start up and it seems the intake may be leaking.

Call your dealer and ask about M-letter number 00M12.
It's not an actual recall...just an owner notification. If you have rattle on startup or rough idle when cold it may need to be done. In Canada here the coverage is up to 5 years and 120,000 kms. Not sure what it is the US. The job involves putting in a new timing chain tensioner and restrictor thingy along with new intake gaskets. It's a couple hour job usually.
