I went to a car wash (mom's boyfriend works there for 20 yrs), two guys had driven car for washing process, one of them stole the flasher out of my 94 aerostar 3.0 liter. In the process of stealing it, they must have done it as quickly as possible and somehow not only took the flasher but also took the fusebox "connectors" for the flashers' two metals plugs, along with it...either as a mistake or as a result of the stealing process done hastily/haphazardly.
In any event, now i don't have any turn signals at all, the brake lights work but no turn signals. I can't persue action against the car wash as my moms boyfriend allowed me to get it done for nothing as one of his weekly benefits for working there. So this means I must somehow fix it myself....as cheaply as possible as I'm out of work, and don't have much funds.
I was wondering if I could go to a junkyard and somehow take only the connectors for the flasher themselves...would it be possible to do this? and how difficult is it to replace these connectors in my exsisting fusebox?
Can anyone tell me how to do this? I desperately need this vehicle so i can get work fast...please help me.
just go to a pull-it-yourself junkyard. do whatthe thieves did and get the parts you need. less than 5 bucks I bet
what if these connectors that they took are somehow connected to wires?
how do i fix that...i don't know what these connectors look like etc.
you see, the new flasher doesn't fit snug as it should normally because these
connectors are also missing from INSIDE the flasher plugin section of the fusebox...
What makes you think the flasher was stolen? Are you sure you're looking in the right place for the flasher? Have you checked all the fuses to make sure the one for the signal lights isn't blown?
The connectors for the flasher cant be pulled out of the front of the fuse box. They can only be pulled out from the back where the wires are.
Sorry to hear of the problem. So what's next now? Theives stealing flashers? At first the popular parts were hubcaps, then airbags, then xeon headlight bulbs, and now flashers? What is this world coming to?
Let me get this correct >they took the flasher relay out of the fuse panel and the connectors that are connected to the wires through the fuse panel? If thats the case you should have some bare wiring under there right?just grab a couple of connectors that fit the prongs on the flasher from the hardware store ,connect to the wires through the panel and your golden.Hope this helps

Ok yes I did check most everything fuses etc lightbulbs,... then I decided to check the fusebox again and thats when i noticed the flasher was missing.
But what's interesting, is that you say it can't be taken out from the front, only the rear, so i'm going to go check that in a few, just woke up. let you know.
luckily perhaps the connectors are still there just pushed in too much, guess i'll have to unscrew the whole fusebox and take it down to actually see whats behind it...
replying to this post immediately after the last one

Ok I'm replying to this post immediately after the last one, so i haven't yet checked the back of the box yet...ok. But yes, you understand it correctly above.
the flasher module is about 2.50 at autozone for the cheapo and about 10 bucks for the variable voltage one, you only need the variable one if you pull trailers and use the lights
Is there an owner's manual with the vehicle?
If yes, check in it for drawings of fuse area.
Theft of flasher is possible, just doesn't sound likely, esp with connectors, that's more like mechanical surgery. Not a quick thing to do without damage to surrounding area.
When you say the turn signals don't work, when you attempt a signal, what happens.
If dash arrow lights but doesn't blink, that means a bulb (on outside of vehicle) is burned out. It's not unheard of for two or more bulbs to go at the same time.
You have checked all fuses? Not just for being there, but seeing if any burned?
Ok all you Ford fans, listen up !!! (I feel like a dummy now, but oh well)...just in case someone else may need this info, here goes:
After checking the back of the fusebox this mourning, to see if any broken and/or stripped wires etc. were exposed (should of been two)...I found none at all. This led me to begin thinking that perhaps it was possible that, in fact, there were no standard silver cylinder flasher ever placed INTO the fusebox originally, that perhaps it was either outside the box and/or somewhere near it....or even perhaps it was computerized and therefore in a module somewhere.
So with this in mind I decided to call the experts (meaning the service dept at a local Ford dealership) for the answer to this question, and guess what he said?
(you're not going to believe this)
He said (after looking over his service manuals) that it said that, it was located "IN" the fusebox for my 1994 XLT aerostar...BUT that he knew for a fact , that for that year and model, it was not in the box but outside it...either under the dashboard or, to the left of the box on a silver bracket, that it was a black square box (1in x 1in x 1in) with the words DENSO on it...and that it did not have two prongs , but 3.
Well wouldn't you know it !!! he was right !! I went down to the van checked where he said and found it, on mine its to the left of the fuse box (kinda bracketed to it)
I pulled the flasher out, then plugged it back in ...and everything worked again !!!!!
So I assume, that when either of the two men at car wash, got into the van...they must of somehow kicked it loose when they either looked for a emegengcy brake relase or when just getting in the vehicle.
In any event , now we know where the falsher is for that yr and model, and how to fix it...
PROBLEM SOLVED GUYS ...thankyou for all your help....
