Tach Don't Work
Recently bought a '87 F250 with 6.9. Tach doesn't work at all. I'm guessing it's the sensor that's mounted on the top front of engine. Are these prone to failure? How do you check it?

Yes, it is called a tach drive where I come from. You may be able to clean the end of the sensor off and retry it. It probably has oily gunk covering it. If you have a buddy with one on his you could swap them to see if that is your problem. I`m not sure how you can test it. I don`t have my service manuals here w/me.
