'74 chevy vega with the nasty, oil burning gutless 4-banger. Birth control on wheels.

My first car was a 1980 Ford Mustang 4 banger with 4 speed tranny...Man I loved that car, always wished it was a 5.0 but hey it got me everywhere (well most of the time at least).

The first car I owned was a 1978 Chevy Caprice. This thing was pretty rusty, it was off the road more than it was on.. but I sure loved it.. because it was 100% all mine. That car was a ticket to adolescent freedom. I still miss that old car to this day.. many fond memories (and some not so fond - usually involved a tow truck, repair bill, etc).

I know what you mean, my version of that was 1973 Dodge Dart

Peeling paint, worn out V8, rust everywhere, things always breaking down on it.... little space inside, tiny trunk, AM only radio, terrible gas mileage, front end always wearing out. It was my first car and I was awfully proud of it. Loved it in fact.

I still have my '78 Olds Delta 88. It looks about like what everybody else is describing but with less rust and it's going into storage soon. In a few years it'll be able to start working on it and when I'm done it'll look good as new!

1963 Pontiac Acadian - all steel dash - no seatbelts - good thing the inline 6 wasn't fast enough to get into trouble - I might have banged my head

That was kind of a cool car - not many people - even the GM people - had even heard of a 63 Acadian - it was a Canadian model only I think - sister to the Chevy II I belive. It was given to me by an uncle of mine - sometimes I wish I still had it.

Anyone else ever heard of it or did I have a REALLY rare car when I was a kid and not know it

Glenn

1963 4 door Ford Falcon (Futura?)- Light blue. Rusty, sagged in the back end. The crankcase vent poured black smoke. If you stopped at a light you could barely see through the smoke.

Im the one with the beater when i was in HS, lol. While all of my friends were driving 96 and up brand new Z71's. I was driving a 1980 two tone brown, long wheel base chevy truck, lol. It had a 305, brown vinyl interior, and here is the funny part. The bed leaned (was warped) to the left, the cab leaned (was warped as well) to the right, and they both leaned into the middle, lol. It had straight pipes, with 32 inch glass packs, and 18" x 4" tips. That when i had them welded on (in shop class), they stuck out about 6 inches past the bumper, lol. I bought it for 800 dollars at the auction, when i was 15, so i would have something to drive when i turned 16 lol. I finally stacked the bearings in the motor, lol. Then about 4 months before i graduated, i went and bought a 1961 ford unibody truck (that needed restoring badly) with the 223 straight six with the three on the tree.

'78 T-Bird 351m fmx. Heavy, slow, ill handleing, and complete w/ peeling vinyl hard top/stuck open headlight covers. Had a bigger back seat than most 4 doors and was very comfortable though. I was getting a truck and decided to try and kill it, after a month I gave up and gave her to a friend. It had 220K then (8 years ago-all original save for rebuilt carb/vacuum lines)and my dad says he still sees it driving around town. It is the car that won't die.

My high school beater was a 72 F100 red with the typical rear fender rust other wise it was a solid truck stock 302 with duals on it c-4 man it would smoke the tires not sure if it was a trac loc rear but both tires fried all the time, best part I got it from a retired farmer for 50 bucks.
It was so cool because my brother who was a year younger got his first truck a 68 F250 with a 390 4-speed which he got for a 100 dollars., yeah the teachers loved it when we left the parking lot he had full length headers with 3 inch exhaust, ha ha two old fords peelin rubber, while them poor Z-71's were doin the one wheel peel.

My 72 F100 had rust all over 302 c-4 auto. It was a ranger trim. two tone blue and white. I miss it. we used to jump it over dirt banks like the Dukes of Hazzard. It was real cool.
