Gross Combined Weight Rating

GCWR is the maximum amount of weight allowed for truck and trailer together.

The GCWR should be listed in your owner's manual.

From 1998 Ford towing guide:

F150 gcwr= 10,000lbs with 4.2l and 3.55 rear end
11,500lbs with 4.6l and 3.55 rear end
12,700lbs with 5.4l and 3.55 rear end and 16 inch wheels
12,200lbs with 5.4l and 3.55 rear end and 17 inch wheels

Towing capacity varies from 5800lbs to 8200lbs depending on engine and other equipment

Thumbs up GCWR 2004 New Body style Ford F-150

I have been doing some reading on this subject and the towing guide that came with my new 2004 ( new body style ) Supercab 4x4 (145" wheelbase)
5.4L engine. 17" tires and 3.55 rear axle states as follows Maximum GCWR
is 14,000 lbs and the maximum trailer weight is 8300 lbs. It states not only does engins size make the difference but tire size and wheelbase also adds to you GCWR . The bottom line is the GCWR differs with each make depending
on Engine size, Axle ratio, wheelbase, tires, etc etc. I know it's not specific
to your model but thought it may help
hope this helps
les paul good luck
