04 XLT Expy or do I upgrade to Excursion

I need all your help in making a decision on what to buy. I had an 03 Explorer XLt and its ended up being to small to hold my 3 kids(in car seats) and the large stroller I must carry around, thats the reason for the new car. I have looked at the 04 XLT Expy 4x4 with the 5.4L and the 01/02 Excursion wiht the 7.3 and V10...

I like the room of the Excursion and love the 7.3. The price tag is a bit much for me to handle, so I end up looking at the V10 Excursion. I heard good and bad things about the V10 as well as the 7.3L, but I am not into the gas mileage and reliability of the V10.

I them went and looked at the new 04 Expy with the 5.4L and love them as well. They are roomy enough for the 3 kids and carseats as well as my double stroller.

I need help deciding which vehicle to choose in forms of reliability, gas mileage, repair costs, etc.....

Any information would be great...

Mark

Expy is pretty big. Can easily hold 3 car seats in the second row. I have 2 car seats and can still sit in-between them with room to spare. In the back is a dual stroller with plenty of room left over.

I take it you have a 03/04? I learned my lesson the last time, so I dragged all the car seats, kids and stoller out of the Xploder to the Expy at the dealer to make sure they fit okay. I was able to put the all 3 in the Xpy in more combinations than one. That was my biggest worry.

How do you like the vehicle? Do you have any complaints? Hhave you ran into any major problems? I am hearing alot about the tires, but nothing else. Do you tow anything? How does it do towing?

Yes I just picked up an 03 5.4 XLTabout 1 month ago. I like it alot. Have had a few problems, all were fixed (with 1 exception) under warranty. Problems I had.

Condensation in tail light
Brakes squealing
Vibration at 70 MPH
Sun roof deflector sticking (still needs to get fixed 3rd time)

Overall I am pretty pleased. The problems were not big ones (even the vibration was not a huge problem) and it drives like a car. The only complaint (which I knew going into it) is the gas mileage (13 MPG). Would like it to be higher but that is the price you pay for having such a big truck. Each fillup is $50. It is nice being the biggest vehicle around (99% of the time). People watch to see what your gonna do before they more. It is funny to look down into most other SUV and trucks. (1500, suburban, explorer, etc)

No I have not towed anything, but it does have the tow package. When she is paid off, I think a boat is in order.
