I have a 03 F250sd cc 5.4L The last time i changed the oil I noticed that the weld on the heat shield broke and the shield was vibrating plus there was about a 1 inch crack in the cross over pipe. I took it to Ford and all they did was put a screw type clamp to keep the shield from vibrating and said to watch the crack. Now since this truck is under warranty should I make them replace the exhuast, reweld it or what. Also would the crack cause any performance problems? the truck has 18000 on it. I would think that with road vibrations ans such that the crack will travel over time. Any suggestions!
Be cool and collective. Tell them you want the damaged part replaced and don't allow them to argue with you. If they say it's not a warranty item or not "bad" enough to replace, tell them to put it in writing - don't argue with them. Have the manager sign it, too.
Get all the ammo you can. This doesn't sound normal for a respectable dealer.
Thanks Everyone
I feel the same way. So I guess I'll head to the dealership and complain about it. I'll keep you posted on this. I figure as much as I paid for this thing it shouldn't have any problems. This is my first ford truck so far I like it.
