Paint Supplies

Hey all, I have a question concering paint supplies. I like most people I am too am on a budget. I live in the Akron Ohio area and would like to find a place that sell paint and supplies at a decent price. I went to NAPA one time to just buy reducer and hardner and spent like 25 bucks on an 8 ounce can of hardner. Any help would be great. Thank in advanced.

Hi welcome to FTE!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to say but anytime you buy paint and stuff like that it will cost you an arm and a leg.......you might get a break if you know someone who works in a body shop or something along those lines...also remember you get what you pay for---good paint and patience will produce a good paint job.

Just to give you an idea of the costs...

$130/gallon for epoxy and activator
$37/gallon of reducer
$78-$160/gallon of clearcoat and hardener

Costs will depend on brand and value line. Paint costs will depend on brand, value line, and color.

Your best bet is to decide on what type of paint (AE, SS, or BC/CC) you are going to use, go to an auto paint store, and tell them you want to do it as cheap as possible. Try to stay with a proven system so you don't run into compatiablity problem.

I mix and match. For a middle of the line job, I use R-M epoxy, Evercoat 2K, Diamont basecoat, and Select clear. If I want to step it up a notch, I use Diamont clear, which is reported to have more UV holdout.
