did anyone see stacy(from the tv show trucks) modify that brand new f250 diesel? im not sure if it was a 7.3 or a 6.0 but i remember he added a banks six gun, monster exhaust, bigger intake, bigger intercooler, and a couple of guages to monitor trans temp. and egt's, but i cant remember if he did any modifications to the transmission. You would think with all that extra hp, he would have done something to it. does anybody out there know, did you see the episode? only wondering cuz if i soup up my 2001 psd, i want the EXACT SAME mod's that stacy put in that truck! it was really smokin' man!
I've seen that episode, it was the 6.0. If I remember correctly the Banks six gun includes reprogramming for the transmission to give firmer shifts. Since you want the mods that he put on that truck, figure out what they are and put together your own "kit." You can usually do so for subsantially less money and in many cases make more power.
yeah but do you think that just by reprogramming to give firmer shifts will do the trick, cuz thats a lot of torque for a transmission, and i dont want to replace that mother after one simple race!
Uhh - isn't the Six-Gun only for the 6.0?? I don't think it's made for the 7.3 and I'd agree with John that you can do the same thing for a lot less money - especially with a 7.3 PSD. There is a LOT of stuff available that you can pick and choose from and put together a setup that will cost you less and probably tromp all over a Banks-equipped truck. If you're looking for transmission upgrades look into the Sonnax valve and Tricumulator springs - and if you're really serious an aftermarket torque converter maybe.
i have heard that the banks trans command does a pretty dang good job to help that tranny hold up to all that power. even if it dosnt, banks has a warranty on they're products so that if your tranny does fail after you had the trans command put in they will replace your tranny, at least thats how i understood it when the guy at the local banks dealer explained it to me.
The 7.3 six gun will start shipping in July, but all it does on the 7.3 is raise the fuel injection pressure, so if your chip is already heavy in that area (as most all extreme chips are) it will do exactly NADA. It could potentionally ramp the pressure at a faster rate, so there may be some midrange power improvements, but you'll get squat on the top end.
The only people I see being interested in the 7.3 six gun are the one's that really need to shave a couple tenths of the 1/4 mile time and have the money (or lack of sense) to pay the price of another chip for two tenths.
I wish it were the same as the 6.0 six gun, but it isn't.
