Currently i have a 20 in. glasspack that is now 6 years old on my 98 4.6 F-150. It is way too quiet for my liking. Do you think that if i were to put a 12 inch pack on it would be significantly louder? Or should i be doing something else to get a louder sound? And I went to a muffler shop in hudson wisconsin and they say that they can not do true dual exhaust leagally for me. I want really loud! Thanks
i dunno...id wait for some more opinions...i have never heard that new of a pickup straight piped from the cats back, so i dont know if it sounds good. but if u want it loud, but dont care about the tone, go for it. take in to mind i am by all means NO expert at exhaust systems just yet....
If no shops won't do true dual and you can't cut out the cats, you could get a hi flow cat but other than that a shorter glasspack is not really any louder unless you go from 24" down to 12", I have played with exaust lots, no expert but I do like to play. Put dual 2" glasspacks and 3" tips on my little 4cyl 4x4 (Lada Niva) and had it sounding like a harley till it blew up. have a 400 ford with true duals and glasspacks, sounds perfect, 1990 460 F-250 w/dual 2.5" super turbos, sounds like crap. so yea I like to play.
Your truck should be easy to dual out and leave the cats alone. Cut the exhaust just past the o2 sensors. Add a 90 to the drivers side and run both pipes down the passenger side. Plenty of room. You can even add a crossover.
